The Muay Boran Masterclass

An Exclusive 10-Week Live Training Experience with Kru Bird

You already know some Muay Thai. Now go deeper.

$200 deposit | only 8 places | September 19th 2026

Muay Boran is more than a collection of old techniques. It is a traditional martial art with its own principles of movement, footwork, striking, defence and application.

For the first time, I’m bringing my Muay Boran instruction online in a small-group, live training environment.

Over 10 weeks, I’ll personally teach a maximum of 8 students, taking you through the fundamentals of Muay Boran, including Cherng Mat, Cherng Tao, Cherng Khao, Cherng Sok, Mae Mai and Look Mai.

This isn't a prerecorded course where you watch videos and train alone.

You train live with me.

The Muay Boran Masterclass

10 weeks | Live on Zoom | 2 hours every Saturday | Maximum 8 students

Course starts: September 19, 2026

The course will only go ahead once all 8 places have been secured.

Reserve your place with a $200 deposit

Full course price: $750 USD

The remaining $550 balance is due 7 days before the course begins.

If all 8 places are not filled by September 18, the course will not go ahead and all deposits will be refunded.

Why Learn Muay Boran Online?

Normally, if you want to study Muay Boran directly with me, you need to come to Thailand.

That means flights, accommodation, food, transport and time away from home — simply to get access to the instruction.

This masterclass gives you another option.

You can learn from wherever you are in the world while still getting live instruction, demonstrations, feedback and personalised coaching from me.

You'll be learning in a small group of just 8 students, allowing me to give individual attention rather than treating you as another face in a large online class.

This Isn't Just Another Online Course

There are plenty of martial arts courses online where you watch a video and try to copy what you see.

That's not what I'm creating.

Every Saturday, we'll spend two hours together live on Zoom.

I'll demonstrate the techniques, explain the principles behind them and watch you work through them.

You'll be able to ask questions and receive feedback during the session.

And the coaching doesn't stop when the Zoom call ends.

Each week, you'll receive homework to practise between sessions. You'll send me videos of your training through WhatsApp, and I'll personally review your work and send you approximately 5 minutes of individual video feedback each week.

That extra feedback is important.

Sometimes a small mistake in foot position, timing or movement can easily be missed during a live class. The homework reviews give me another opportunity to look at your technique and help you correct anything that needs attention.

What You'll Learn

The course is designed for people who already understand the fundamentals of Muay Thai and want to develop their understanding of traditional Muay Boran.

We'll progressively build your knowledge throughout the 10 weeks.

Foundations

We'll begin by establishing the foundations of Muay Boran and understanding how they differ from the Muay Thai you're already familiar with.

We'll work on:

  • Muay Boran fundamentals
  • Stance and movement
  • Footwork
  • Striking
  • Defence
  • Catches
  • Wai Kru

Cherng

We'll then move into the Cherng systems, including:

  • Cherng Mat — fist techniques
  • Cherng Tao — kicking techniques
  • Cherng Khao — knee techniques
  • Cherng Sok — elbow techniques

These aren't simply techniques to memorise. We'll look at the movement, principles and applications behind them.

Mae Mai & Look Mai

The final part of the course will take us deeper into the traditional Muay Boran systems.

You'll learn selected Mae Mai and Look Mai techniques and begin to understand how they fit into the wider system.

By the end of the course, you'll have a much clearer understanding of what makes Muay Boran different from modern Muay Thai and how the traditional techniques and principles connect together.

The 10-Week Journey

Week 1 — Muay Boran Foundations

Understanding the art, its principles and how it differs from modern Muay Thai.

Week 2 — Footwork & Movement

Developing the movement and positioning needed for Muay Boran.

Week 3 — Striking

Exploring traditional striking methods and their applications.

Week 4 — Wai Kru

Understanding the movements, meaning and traditions behind Wai Kru.

Week 5 — Cherng Mat

Exploring traditional punching techniques and movement.

Week 6 — Cherng Tao

Working with traditional kicking techniques and applications.

Week 7 — Cherng Khao & Cherng Sok

Developing the traditional use of knees and elbows.

Week 8 — Defence & Catches

Understanding traditional defensive movements, catches and responses.

Week 9 — Mae Mai

Beginning the deeper study of the traditional Mae Mai techniques.

Week 10 — Look Mai & Integration

Bringing together what you've learned and developing a deeper understanding of the Muay Boran system.

The exact techniques and progression may be adjusted depending on the needs and development of the group.

You'll receive a workbook to accompany the course and help you record and develop your learning throughout the 10 weeks.

Full Class Recordings

Every live session will be recorded. If you can't make a Saturday session, you'll be able to watch the recording and catch up on what you missed.

Direct Access to Kru Bird

Have questions between classes? Send them through and I'll address them during the following session.

No Equipment Required

You don't need a heavy bag, pads or specialist equipment to take part. You simply need enough space to safely practise the techniques.

Who Is This Course For?

This masterclass is designed specifically for people who already have a foundation in Muay Thai.

You don't need to be a fighter.

You don't need to compete.

You don't need to be an instructor.

But you should already understand the fundamentals of Muay Thai so that we can spend our time exploring Muay Boran rather than teaching basic Muay Thai from scratch.

This course is for you if:

  • You already train Muay Thai
  • You want to understand traditional Muay Thai more deeply
  • You're interested in Muay Boran
  • You want to learn techniques that aren't normally covered in modern Muay Thai classes
  • You want direct instruction rather than prerecorded videos
  • You want personalised feedback on your technique
  • You want to learn from an experienced Thai instructor without having to travel to Thailand

Who Is This NOT For?

This isn't a fitness class.

It isn't a modern fight-camp program.

And it isn't designed to turn you into a fighter in 10 weeks.

The purpose of this course is to learn and understand the traditional art of Muay Boran.

If your main goal is simply to burn calories, prepare for a fight or learn modern Muay Thai combinations, there are better courses for you.

This masterclass is for people who want to go deeper.

Learn From Kru Bird

I've been training, fighting and teaching Muay Thai for over 40 years.

I'm one of the few A Licence accredited instructors in Thailand, and I've had the opportunity to teach Muay Thai and Muay Boran internationally through seminars and training.

I've spent decades learning, practising and teaching these arts.

Now I want to share that knowledge with a small group of students who are genuinely interested in understanding Muay Boran.

This is the first time I'm offering this experience online.

Why Only 8 Students?

Because I don't want this to become another large online course where you disappear into the crowd.

With only 8 students, I can see you.

I can watch your technique.

I can answer your questions.

I can give you individual corrections during class.

And I can take the time to review your homework outside of class.

The small group is part of the course — not a marketing gimmick.

Once the 8 places are filled, enrolment closes.

Your Investment

$750 USD for the complete 10-week masterclass

This includes:

20 hours of live instruction 10 live Zoom sessions Personalised feedback every week Weekly homework reviews Course workbook Full class recordings Direct access to Kru Bird

Important:

This is a presale and the course requires a minimum of 8 students to run.

If all 8 places aren't secured by September 18, 2026, the course will not go ahead and your $200 deposit will be refunded.

If all 8 places are secured, the course begins on:

September 19, 2026

Only 8 places available.

90 Day ED Visa

What Is the Thailand Muay Thai Visa?

The Thailand Muay Thai Visa is designed for people who want to come to Thailand to train in Muay Thai as part of an approved training programme.

For eligible applicants, the 90-day Muay Thai Visa can provide a way to stay in Thailand while undertaking Muay Thai training at a recognised Muay Thai camp. This makes it a great option for people who want more than just a short holiday in Thailand and would like to spend their time properly training and experiencing Muay Thai.

You don't need to be a professional fighter to train in Thailand. Whether you're a complete beginner, an experienced martial artist, or simply want to dedicate some time to learning authentic Muay Thai, training can be tailored to your level.

At Kru Bird Muay Thai, our aim is to give you a genuine Muay Thai experience while you are in Phuket. Our training includes traditional Muay Thai as well as Muay Boran, with a focus on technique, fitness, pad work and developing your skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

Muay Thai Visa or DTV?

The 90-day Muay Thai ED Visa is different from Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). The DTV is a separate long-stay visa.

  • Want to improve your technique, fitness and conditioning
  • Are a beginner looking for a supportive place to learn
  • Already train Muay Thai and want to take your skills further
  • Want to learn traditional Muay Thai and Muay Boran
  • Want to combine your time in Thailand with regular Muay Thai training
  • Are interested in living and training in Phuket rather than simply visiting for a short holiday

You don't have to be preparing for a fight. Our training is suitable for people with different goals, from learning the fundamentals and getting fit to developing more advanced Muay Thai skills.
